Get Involved

Your support will truly make a difference. Investing where you and your children are connected feels good. Without the support of new volunteers, programs will suffer or go away. Please contribute to the enrichment of your child's education at the Greenwood School. Note that all volunteers must complete a CORI form.

Immediate needs:

BOKS Fitness Leaders: BOKS is a free, before-school fitness program designed to give kids a body and brain boost that will set them up for a day of learning. From September 25 to November 1, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, volunteers will be asked to help lead a 40 minute fitness/nutrition session from approximately 7:40am-8:20am. Training will be provided! If you can commit to once or twice a week, please speak to Tara Durrant or Steve Coveney or email

Organize summer reading books: Ms. Holland is looking for help restocking books that our kindergarten students have returned from their summer reading initiative. If you have an hour or two to assist, contact her at

Room parents: Typically, each classroom has at least one parent who acts as a liaison between teachers and parents. Although each classroom operates differently, it often involves coordination of communication and events, like crafts and teacher gifts. We still currently need a room parent for Ms. Koplik's classroom. Contact Marika Conway at to learn more.

Morning drop-off coordinator: In previous years, parent volunteers provided students with escort service from vehicles on Greenwood Avenue to the Greenwood playground so that they arrive to their class lines safely. This service helps parents who cannot leave their vehicles and walk their children to line. If you are interested in organizing volunteers for this service, please contact Note that without a leader, this service will discontinue.

Ongoing needs:

Volunteer for lunch duty: Whether you have free time each week or just an hour a month, lunch duty is a fun way to see your kids during the school day. If you can hand out napkins and sporks, you’ll be a great addition to the team. Contact Marie Paiva at if interested.

Attend PTO meetings: Our casual meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month, October to May, at 7 p.m. in Greenwood’s library. You are under no obligation to volunteer for events or activities--we’d love to have you just come, listen, and share your opinions. Our first meeting is October 9.
