From the Principal: 10/11/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone got to do something to enjoy their three-day weekend.  I drove up to Central Maine to visit my mother, and while I’m not generally a huge foliage-seeker, the colors of the trees along I-95 were pretty stunning!  We also went to a farmstand for apple cider donuts, so I think my fall bingo card is pretty far along…although I may need to do more taste-testing of donuts before all is said and done!

Safe Routes to School - Wednesday, October 12th

Greenwood already has a lot of students who walk, ride, or roll to school each day, and this upcoming Wednesday is a day to celebrate that!  We will have music, stickers, and a giant poster for students to sign when they arrive at school on Wednesday morning.  Fingers crossed for good weather!

Indigenous Peoples' Day Community Art Project

In honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the Wakefield Human Rights Commission invites the community to a large-scale community art project with Aimeé Ledwell, an art teacher with 20+ years of experience and a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag tribe.

Turtle Island Community Art project,  Sunday 10/16, 11:30am at the Americal Civic Center

Aimeé will offer an art project featuring an image of Turtle Island spread over four canvases. Children and adults can participate in filling in the 36"x 48" image with paint sticks while learning about the meaning of Turtle Island from an Indigenous perspective. Materials and information about Turtle Island and stories will be available to take home.

This event is sponsored by the Wakefield Human Rights Commission and the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church.
