From the Principal: Nov 5

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy November! How did YOU feel about Daylight Saving Time coming to an end this weekend? For many, the extra hour gained by turning the clocks back is an eagerly-anticipated event. However, others point out - quite accurately - that we are now entering that period where it gets dark before many of us even have a chance to get home at the end of the day. No matter how you look at it, the question I have is really, “How are we already two months into the school year?” While we still have a lot of learning and growing ahead of us, it’s amazing to think of how much has already been accomplished. You’ll hear much more about it all over the next two Wednesdays during conferences!

Professional Development and Parent Conferences

Our school schedule is a little different-looking this week! As noted on the district calendar, there is no school for students on Tuesday, November 6th due to centralized voting at Galvin. The Greenwood staff will collaborate with Walton staff members that day for professional development sessions about literacy and math. Wednesday, November 7th is an early-release day (11:55am, lunch served first) to provide dedicated time for parent/guardian conferences in the afternoon. Elementary evening conference time slots are also being held on November 7th.

All-School Assembly

Our next All-School Assembly will be on Wednesday, November 7th at 9:00am, with a focus on both Veterans Day and Thankfulness. While this assembly is not being “hosted” by a grade level, our 4th graders will be performing two or three patriotic songs to commemorate the upcoming holiday. Here is the grade-level hosting schedule for the rest of the year:

  • Friday, December 14th - Grade 2

  • Friday, January 18th - Grade 4

  • Friday, March 1st - Grade 1

  • Friday, April 12th - Grade 3

  • Thursday, May 23rd - Kindergarten
