Principal Search Down to Two Finalists

Update: The following message was sent from Superintendent Smith to Greenwood families on February 27:

One of our Greenwood Principal finalists, Juliana Schneider, communicated today that she has accepted an offer to assume the principal position in the school where she currently works. I offered her our sincere congratulations and best wishes.

We continue to be excited to present finalist Tiffany Back this week. Assistant Superintendent Doug Lyons, Walton Principal Elaina Byrne, and I completed a site visit to two elementary schools in Newton where she works as an Assistant Principal. Highlighted by student-led tours and meetings with faculty and staff at each school, the experience only enhanced our interest in this candidate. At all levels of the interview process to date, search committee members have expressed their significant interest in Ms. Back’s values, skills, and experience.

Ms. Back looks forward to her visit to the Greenwood School on Thursday, March 1.

The below message was sent from Superintendent Smith to Greenwood families:

I invite the Greenwood School community to join me on Thursday evening, March 1, to meet two candidates for principal, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium:

6:30 – 7:15 p.m. Juliana Schneider

7:15 – 7:30 Submit feedback survey

7:30 – 8:15 p.m. Tiffany Back

8:15 – 8:30 p.m.  Submit feedback survey

Juliana Schneider joins us from the Acton-Boxboro Public Schools, where she has been an elementary school assistant principal for four years. Prior to this role, Juliana taught in a small neighborhood school in Wellesley, very much like the close- knit Greenwood community. Juliana brings valuable experience and skill in leading project based, authentic learning curriculum and fostering whole child development in schools.

Tiffany Back joins us from the Newton Public Schools, where she has served as Assistant Principal/Teacher for five years following a substantial teaching career in Newton and Shrewsbury. Tiffany has extensive knowledge and experience in providing effective intervention strategies in Literacy and Math to support all learners and she is an advocate for Arts education in schools.

Each candidate will provide introductory remarks and then engage in individual and small group dialogue with the Greenwood School community. Refreshments will be served! The participation of Greenwood students is encouraged.

Your feedback is important to us, so please share your feedback for each candidate via an online survey following each visit. Hard copies will also be available at the event.

In the coming week, Assistant Superintendent Lyons and I will visit candidates’ schools, check references and continue to interact with our finalists before arriving at a decision. Thank you for your participation in this important process.
