AuthorFest at the Greenwood School April 9

The Greenwood Staff, PTO and AuthorFest committee are very excited to be celebrating 16 years of bringing literacy to life in the form of author/illustrator visits and fun, creative literacy-based activities. This week-long event, sponsored by the Greenwood PTO, brings nationally recognized author/illustrators to share their knowledge of composition, story development, editing, illustration, and publication with Greenwood students.

The goal of AuthorFest is to promote a commitment to literacy and composition while supplementing the town-wide language arts curriculum.  For the last 15 years, families and teachers have related examples and stories of how this event has provided students with valuable concepts and has succeeded in building the foundation that reading and writing can be fun and creative, spurring many students to become more engaged readers and writers themselves.  Make sure to ask your budding writers and illustrators about their visits!

By grade, the visiting author/illustrators are:

  • Kindergarten & 2nd Grade - Marty Kelley, martykelley.com (Friday, April 13th)
  • 1st & 4th Grades - Brian Lies, brianlies.com (Thursday, April 12th)
  • 3rd Grade - Matt Tavares, matttavares.com (Monday, April 9th)
