From the Principal: 6/17/19

Dear Greenwood Families,

Even though I could see it coming, it still amazes me that this is the last letter I’m writing as a first-year principal here at Greenwood. Each and every day I have been excited to spend time with this wonderful community and see all the incredible learning and growing that happens throughout the year. Thank you all for welcoming me so warmly and providing so much enthusiasm and support. There are so many great things ahead of us here at Greenwood. But first...summertime rest, relaxation, and recharging!

Move Up Day

Students in grades 1-3 will participate in Move Up Day on Wednesday morning. This gives them an opportunity to meet their next teacher and classmates as a little preview for next year! I will send out a message to families via School Messenger on Wednesday morning that tells you your child’s next teacher.

Report Cards

Report cards will be available online for you to access on June 19th after 2:45pm. Please let the office know if you have difficulty.

4th Grade Walk of Fame

We invite our fourth grade families to join us at 11:50am on Wednesday, June 19th for the 4th Grade Walk of Fame. Let’s congratulate and celebrate our 4th graders as they take a final walk through the halls of the Greenwood School!

Last Day

The last day of school for Grades 1 - 4 is Wednesday, June 19th, which will be an early release day with students dismissed at 11:55am. No lunch will be served on the final day of school.

Beebe Library Book Links

The Beebe Library visited Greenwood this past Monday to launch their summer reading program and would like to share links to book lists with families. Enjoy!!

Staffing Updates

Greenwood will have a couple of staff changes next year that we would like to share with the community. With Elaine Pirrello retiring at the end of the school year, we are lucky to be able to welcome Jay Wallace back to the Greenwood as a 3rd grade classroom teacher next year. The other change is related to the increase in Greenwood’s School Psychologist position. Jennifer Beardslee, who currently works at Dolbeare and Woodville, will be joining us full-time next year, while Christina Young will work with students at Walton and Dolbeare. We wish Elaine and Christina the best of luck next year, as we look forward to Jay and Jennifer rounding out our staff.

Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning! Have a wonderful summer!
