From the Principal: 3/22/21

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  I always feel like I’m tempting fate by saying things like this...but we may have turned a corner weather-wise.  Whether right or wrong, I was ridiculously happy to look out my window on Friday morning and not see a single flake of snow on the ground after all the weather reports claiming it would be there.  Everyone is so ready to spend some sustained time outdoors, and step one is putting winter behind us!

Schedule Changes - Wednesday, March 31st

In order to lay groundwork for the switch to full in-person learning, we are using Wednesday, March 31st not only for teachers and staff to prepare, but as an opportunity to connect students virtually before classes enter the building together on Monday, April 5th.

  • Hybrid AM and PM cohort students, along with any current full remote students who are returning to in-person learning on April 5th, will meet virtually with their classroom teacher from 8:25-8:55am on Wednesday, March 31st.

  • Specialist classes will not meet on this day, as time is needed to prepare not only for the switch to in-person learning, but also to work out the logistics that need to take place in order for the full remote model to continue with some specialist opportunities.

District Message - School Schedules

The WPS administration sent out a message to all families on Friday, March 19th with more information about timelines for the return to full in-person learning, as well as details about arrival/dismissal times for students at all grade levels.  If you did not receive this message, you can access it at this link.  Please feel free to reach out to me with any Greenwood/elementary-specific questions.

WPS Incoming Kindergarten - Virtual Information Night

On Thursday, March 25th, the elementary principals and other WPS district staff members will host a virtual information session for incoming Kindergarten families from 7:00-8:00pm.  Come and learn more about what to expect in Kindergarten!  Families can register through the WPS Parent University website.

MCAS Update - Grades 3 & 4

As mentioned a couple of weeks ago, DESE has shifted the testing window for MCAS.  All testing for grades 3-8 must take place between May 10th and June 11th.  While we do not yet have specific dates set for our WPS elementary testing days, they will be in early June.  We will send out more information once we have things settled.
