Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! Not that we don’t feel it year-round, but the Greenwood Staff is feeling EXTREMELY appreciated after all of the amazing treats and special theme days last week! We all feel lucky to be part of such an amazing school community - we are truly a team that works together to support children!
Reminder - MCAS Testing Grades 3 & 4
One more reminder to families of students in Grades 3 & 4 that we will have MCAS testing for Math on Monday, May 12th and Tuesday, May 13th. The recommended testing time for each session is 90 minutes, but students will have as much time as they need to complete the test. Children who are absent or significantly tardy on the day of testing will take that day’s session during a makeup time on a different day. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Optional Class Placement Survey - Due Monday, 5/12
This is the time of the school year when we start our process of looking ahead toward planning for the fall, and one of the most important projects we have ahead of us is class placement. On Friday, May 2nd families of students in grades K-3 received a brief optional online survey that gives you the opportunity to provide relevant input about your child if you so choose. More details will be sent along with the survey form, but we are asking for any input to be provided no later than Monday, May 12th.
For our Grade 4 families...Galvin Middle School has its own process for sharing information about students entering 5th grade in the fall, and they will communicate with you about that (if they haven’t already been in touch).

Please take a moment to check out what’s been happening in science classes!
FYI - Early Literacy Academy for Incoming Kindergarten Families
The following message was sent out to all incoming Wakefield Kindergarten families last week.
“We are very excited to announce that we will be able to offer our Early Literacy Academy to all of our incoming kindergarten students again this year! This has been a very successful program for the last four years. This year's program will take place the week of August 18th-22nd from 8:30AM-12:30 PM at your student's assigned school.
The Early Literacy Academy is a wonderful opportunity for our new kindergarten students to acclimate to the school environment, engage with peers and staff, and build their literacy skills. This opportunity is free of charge for our families, however we do not have the ability to provide transportation this week.
Please complete this registration form to let us know that your student can join us. Once the registration process is complete, we will send follow up emails with more information, including your student's class/teacher assignment. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at kara.mauro@wpsk12.org. We look forward to welcoming our new students to WPS!”

Lunchroom Volunteers
Our faithful volunteers will be delighted to know that the Sign-Up Genius has once again been cleaned up - no more scrolling through months of old dates to get to current opportunities!
Do you have any free time between 12:00-1:10pm on school days? Looking for a way to help out at Greenwood? Come join us as a lunchroom volunteer! If you’d like to come in and help support students while they’re eating lunch, please see the linked Sign-Up Genius to select time slots all the way up until THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR! Single days, multiple days, one time slot, the whole lunch block…we welcome any and all helpers!
Lunchroom volunteers will help students with those tricky thermoses, hand out napkins and utensils, support students while they sort items into composting/food rescue/trash, and help clean tables at the end of each lunch. Oh, and the most important thing - bring smiles and laughter!
NOTE: You will need to have a CORI form completed before coming in for any lunch shifts - please contact Ms. Paiva about the process or to check if you have a current one on file
Keep the volunteers coming! Kids love to see everyone at lunchtime!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.
Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning! Let’s have a great week!
