From the Principal: 1/10/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  I hope that most of you were able to enjoy the snow day on Friday - I always appreciate having a little extra time before I need to get outside and shovel.  And for a change, the snowplow drivers didn’t create TOO high of a ridge at the end of my driveway (the price of living on a corner).  Win-win!  Now let’s get ready for another busy week of learning together!

WPS Superintendent’s Message - Updated WPS Guidance

On Friday afternoon, Central Office sent a message to families that included an updated WPS COVID-19 guidance document for families.  This document provides a summary of the updated guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Department of Public Health, and also highlights key information about how we’re working here in Wakefield to keep schools up and running.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Lunch Survey - 2nd Half of January

Just as a heads up - the lunch survey for the remainder of January will be sent out directly to families via School Messenger on Tuesday afternoon.  It’s always interesting to see who is the first to get their signup completed!

No School - Monday, January 17th

All WPS offices and schools will be closed next Monday, January 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday.

2022 Kindergarten Registration

Do you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2022?  Do you know someone else who does?  It’s just about time for us to start looking ahead and thinking about welcoming next year’s crew!  Here is the general plan - more information to come!

In early January, WPS will send a mailing to all families of kindergarten-age children in Wakefield.  Information will also be posted on Facebook and in the Wakefield Daily Item.  Families will be asked to complete the online registration between January 10 (tentative) - January 28 (3 weeks).  The Kindergarten Information Meeting for families will be remote and is tentatively planned for late March.  Kindergarten screening dates will be in June, and the exact dates will be finalized and shared once we know the date for the last day of school.
