From the Principal: 1/3/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy New Year and Happy Monday!  I hope that our Greenwood community was able to enjoy a happy and (fairly) healthy December break, despite the increased number of COVID cases popping up.  Personally, while I may have made some different choices for celebrations than I would have in a “normal” year, it was lovely to have some opportunities to visit with family and friends.  And now we are looking forward to our return to school and the continuation of our learning journey together!  As we did throughout the fall of 2021, Greenwood will continue to implement the mitigation strategies that allowed us to safely maintain full-time, in-person learning as we dive into 2022.  We can’t wait to see everyone!

WPS Superintendent’s Message - Updated DESE Guidance Document

Yesterday afternoon, WPS families received a message from the district that included a link to updated guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education regarding COVID protocols and procedures.  If you have questions regarding appropriate next steps for a situation in your own family, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school nurse, Mary Doherty, and me for assistance.

IMPORTANT - Test & Stay Program

It is definitely not too late to sign up!  We have many families who have signed their children up for the Test & Stay Program, but we are still not at 100%.  If your child is not signed up for the program and are identified as close contacts in school, they will need to stay out of school to quarantine.  Test & Stay allows students to remain in school if not showing symptoms.  To sign your child up for this program, please follow the link in this letter to do so.  There was no paper form sent home - all signups are completed online.

Wakefield Academy January Schedule

Wakefield Academy is happy to let you know that our Monthly Enrollment Schedule for January is now open.  Reminder, there is no school on January 17th due to Martin Luther King, Jr. day and an early release day on January 26th for all grades.  Use the link below or go to our website to complete your child's monthly schedule today.  Please note:  Payment is due on or before January 1st or to make payment arrangements, please contact our office.  If you have not paid your December balance in full or contacted us for payment arrangements, you will be unable to complete a January schedule.  Our staffing costs and needs require your timely payment and support so we can bring you the best care possible.

If you are new to WA or have not completed your once-per-year Annual Registration, this must be completed first before your child can be registered in the monthly enrollment schedule. The steps for joining the Wakefield Academy Extended Day program are listed below.  These steps must be completed for your child to be fully registered in Wakefield Academy.  If you are already a WA member, please use the link in step 2 to complete your January schedule.

How to Register* in Wakefield Academy:

  1. Complete the Annual Registration Form and Payment ($50 registration, max of $80 per family)

  2. Complete the Monthly Enrollment Schedule and Payment (unless payment arrangements have already been made)

*It is very important that this two-step process be followed in order for Wakefield Academy to have all emergency contact and health information on your child.

Wakefield Academy Winter Enrichment

Check out the new Wakefield Academy Enrichment Program design and enrollment form.  We have now created an easy-to-use format brochure and chart which lists our PreK and all elementary schools in just one document.  Just choose your school and you can see all of the choices available, then check out the descriptions!  Please use the link below to see all of our Winter Enrichment programs available at your child’s school.  Our enrichment begins January 10th, so register today!  If you are a WA member, please complete your enrichment form before your January schedule.

Just a reminder, please complete the google form enrollment and payment in order for your child to be enrolled.  You will receive a google form receipt showing your choices.  Also, if you use Unipay you will receive a payment confirmation email from them.  If you do not receive these emails, please reach out to us so we can confirm your child’s successful enrollment.

Thank you for joining Wakefield Academy on this amazing journey of engaging fun and excitement!
