From the Principal: 2/14/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

HAPPY 100th DAY OF SCHOOL!  And Happy Valentine’s Day!  We can thank the two snow days for this alignment of two big days in the lives of elementary school students.  I’ve been watching lots of interesting-looking items make their way into the building over the past week as everyone gets ready to celebrate one or both of these special days.  A fun way to start the week before February break!

Early Release - Wednesday, February 16th

Our next early release day for students is on Wednesday, February 16th.  All students will be dismissed at 11:55am in order for WPS staff to have professional development sessions in the afternoon.  Please note: there will be a scheduled lunch block for students prior to dismissal.

At-Home COVID Tests

The following message was sent via School Messenger on Thursday, 2/10 and is for any family who opted into the WPS weekly at-home COVID testing program.

Test kits were sent home with your child on Thursday, February 10th. These at-home tests must be administered on Monday morning before your child comes to school. The two tests in the kit are to be used on Monday (2/14) and Monday (2/28), skipping the vacation week.

A negative test result does not need to be reported to the school.  However, if your child receives a positive test result, please complete the positive test form and keep them home from school.  This form will be shared with the school nurse: Positive Test Form

Please reach out to Mary Doherty, our Greenwood School Nurse, or me with any questions.

Front Driveway at Arrival

A reminder from the crossing guard that she will not let cars into the Greenwood front driveway after 8:15am in order to keep things clear for families walking to school.  If you are bringing your child to Wakefield Academy in the morning or dropping your child off for regular arrival, you must park along Main Street if it is later than 8:15am.  Pedestrian safety first!

Lunch Survey - 1st Half of March

Keep an eye out - we will be sending the lunch survey for the first half of March directly to families via School Messenger no later than Wednesday of this week.

February Break

All Wakefield schools will be on February break next week, Monday, February 21st through Friday, February 25th.  We look forward to seeing everyone back with us on Monday, February 28th!
