From the Principal: 2/7/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  Even though I know it’s wishful thinking because we live in New England and it’s only the beginning of February, I’m ready for a break from talking and speculating about the weather!  I’ll just leave it at this: my car is ice-free after some vigorous chipping.  And, as always, Greenwood is ready for another week of teaching and learning!

Reminder - Home Testing Opt-In

Wakefield Public Schools has opted into the new DESE At-Home COVID testing program. The goal of the program is to help you find out if your child is positive as early as possible so we can keep students healthy and in school. Two free test kits will be provided every other week for families who opt their children into the program. This new program replaces the test-and-stay program. We ask that you complete your opt-in form ASAP so that we can prepare for the roll-out of the first set of testing kits.

  •    You must complete the below Opt-In form to begin receiving the at-home COVID testing kits.

  •    You need to complete the Opt-In form for each of your students in the school system.

  •    Testing kits will be sent home with  students every two weeks for at home testing.

  •    At home testing will begin once tests are delivered from the state.  We hope to have you start  testing on Monday, February 14, 2022.  Tests must be done on Monday morning before your child comes to school.

  •   If your student receives a positive test result, please complete the positive test form for the school nurse.

An informational letter with further detail and links to DESE information pages is linked below.

Thank you very much and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions!

MCAS Dates - Grades 3 & 4

While we’re still a couple of months away from the testing windows, planning and scheduling for this year’s MCAS tests is well underway!  Students in Grades 3 & 4 will complete computer-based testing in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.  There are two sessions for each subject area, and tests must be scheduled within the window provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  We are sharing these dates now in the effort to avoid conflicts that would remove your child from school on the MCAS testing days.

  • ELA - Thursday, April 7th and Friday, April 8th

  • Math - Monday, May 23rd and Tuesday, May 24th

If you have a known conflict with these dates, please reach out.
