From the Principal: 3/25/19

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday! As we head into the last week of March, I want to stop and take a moment to think about the amazing Authorfest activities we were lucky enough to enjoy here at Greenwood last week. Our students really see themselves as readers and writers and were thrilled to have the opportunity to spend time with our guest authors. The entire Greenwood staff is so appreciative of everything that our families do for us, whether it’s the hard work of the Authorfest committee, decorations and tasty luncheons in the staff room, or the coordination of the room parents to make fun events happen in classrooms. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Greenwood would not be the same without your above-and-beyond efforts!

Early Release Day

Just a reminder that Wednesday, 3/27 is an early release day for students. Lunch will be served at school before we dismiss at 11:55am.

Parent Conferences

We are looking forward to greeting families and having the opportunity to talk about teaching and learning over the next two Wednesdays. If you have not yet scheduled a conference with your child’s teacher, please do so. We all need to work together to help our students learn and grow!

Greenwood Specialists at Conferences

If you would like to meet with your child’s Art, Music, PE, or Library/Media teacher, they will be at Greenwood during the following times for the spring conference block:

  • Mr. Hennessey (PE) - 3/27 from 12:30-3:15pm

  • Ms. Drago (Art) - 4/3 from 12:30-3:15pm

  • Ms. Brighenti (Music) - 3/27 from 12:30-3:15pm

  • Ms. Buckley (Library/Media) - 3/27 from 12:30-3:15pm; 5:00-7:00pm

Please send them an email if you wish to meet at a specific time.

International Night Button Contest

The Greenwood Student Council asked, and Greenwood students really stepped up and delivered! We had 56 entries for this year’s Button Contest (that’s ¼ of our school!), and it was clear that kids really thought about what it means to “Celebrate Diversity” when designing their buttons. We could only select five drawings to move on in the contest - congratulations to Stella C. (KF), Lilia B. (1M), Gianna S. (2R), Soha K. (3B), and Skylar C. (4K) for being selected by the Student Council! However, I want everyone to see all the beautiful work from our students, so here is a slideshow of all our button submissions - I have also shared this with classroom teachers. Thank you to all who participated!

Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning!
