From the Principal: 4/27/20

Dear Greenwood Families,

It might be just me, but it feels like Governor Baker’s announcement last Tuesday about school buildings remaining closed for the remainder of the academic year happened ages ago.  Even though most of us expected such a message, that did not make it any easier to hear the words actually being said.  Everyone in our school community was holding out hope that there would be some way to bring us back together, all the while knowing that public health and safety absolutely must be the priority.  Please know that we are all working together as a school district, as well as within individual schools, to continue to make and refine plans that will help students stay engaged and connected both academically and socially.  We will continue to keep you informed as we move into this next phase.  As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need support.

Grade 4 Families—Galvin Survey

This is the time of year when we normally have a number of different transition activities to prepare students and parents for the transition to Grade 5 at Galvin Middle School.  Adam Colantuoni, the principal of Galvin, is preparing a presentation for families to learn more about life at the Galvin and is seeking any questions you would like addressed.  Please take a moment to fill out this survey if you have specific questions about the transition, 5th grade, or about Galvin in general.

April Birthdays

Our April student birthdays will be recognized on Thursday, April 30th via Greenwood’s Instagram and Facebook.  The birthday pencils will have to wait, but we can still name names (not last names though)!

Weekly Theme

Even though International Day of Laughter went by a couple of weeks ago, there is always some benefit to a good chuckle on any given day!  This week I will be sharing a “joke of the day” each morning - let’s see how many are actually funny versus being what I like to call “groaners.”  If any students have a school-appropriate joke they’d like to share with their Greenwood friends, send me a quick video or a picture with your written joke so that I can share them out with others!

Greenwood Instagram & Facebook Account

Just another reminder about following the Greenwood School Instagram and/or Facebook accounts (@wpsgreenwood) to see the daily videos!

Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning—let’s have a great week!
