From the Principal: 5/9/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  On behalf of the entire Greenwood staff, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to our Staff Appreciation Week treats!  Everyone had fun waiting to see what each day would bring, and we definitely felt the love (especially on that “dessert bar” day - oh my!).  Whenever anyone asks what is special about Greenwood School, “our community” is the top answer.  It takes families and staff together to make it all happen, and we are lucky to have that Gator spirit in full force!

Optional Class Placement Survey

This is the time of the school year when we start our process of looking ahead toward planning for the fall, and one of the most important projects we have ahead of us is class placement. On Monday, May 9th, families of students in grades K-3 will receive a brief optional online survey that will give you the opportunity to provide input about your child if you so choose.  More details will be sent along with the survey form, but we are asking for any input to be provided no later than Friday, May 20th .

For our Grade 4 families...Galvin Middle School has its own process for students entering 5th grade in the fall, and they will be in communication about that (if they haven’t already been in touch).

Health Reminder - Updated 5/8/22

I’ve kept this reminder as a constant throughout the year, and I want to draw your attention to it once again as we are currently seeing an uptick in COVID cases throughout the district.  It is so important for everyone to maintain vigilance in order to keep school operating as smoothly as possible.  Please keep children home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever of 100.0 or higher, chills, or shaking chills

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Muscle aches or body aches

  • Cough (not due to other known cause such as chronic cough, asthma, allergies)

  • Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Headache, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms

  • Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms

If a positive case of COVID is identified in your child’s classroom, you will receive a letter via School Messenger to let you know.  Our school nurse, Mrs. Doherty is always happy to answer any questions you may have or provide clarification.
