From the Principal: 6/1/21

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Tuesday!  With today being the first day of June, it is really starting to hit home that we are creeping closer and closer to wrapping up the 2020-2021 school year.  And while I’m not going to say that there isn’t a bit of “counting down” going on, it still feels like we have so much we want to do with our Gators before sending everyone off into the summer!  (Spoiler alert: that’s because we do!)  This will be a busy couple of weeks!

WMHS Senior Car Parade

It was so popular last year...it’s back!  On Tuesday, June 1st, the graduating Wakefield seniors will once again participate in a car parade around the town to kick off Senior Week.  The procession of cars will leave the High School at 3:30pm and follow a police-escorted route that includes all of the other Wakefield schools.  Everyone is encouraged to stand outside and cheer them on!  Greenwood is pretty early in the route - cars will come from Oak Street, drive past the back of the school on Greenwood Avenue, and then loop around onto Main Street and drive past the front of the school.  (Greenwood School - the school that’s so nice, they drive by it twice!).

Grades 3 & 4 - MCAS Information

Coming up next week!  3rd and 4th graders will be taking the English Language Arts MCAS on Monday, June 7th and the Math MCAS on Tuesday, June 8th.  Testing will begin shortly after the start of the school day in order to ensure students have as much time as they might need to finish the assessments.  If you know your child will be late or dismissed early on one of these days for an appointment, please let their teacher and Ms. Back know about that ASAP so that we can make a plan.

While the results of the MCAS tell us about what students know and are able to do, they also give us valuable information about our district’s curriculum and instructional planning.  We absolutely do not want this to be a source of stress or worry for any child - our Greenwood students have been working hard all year long and are ready to tackle this task!
