From the Principal: 6/7/21

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  Be sure and fill those water bottles...we have a couple of toasty days ahead of us!  Wasn’t it just last weekend that everyone was turning their heat back on?  That’s June in New England for you.  I’m sure we’ll get all sorts of weather changes over these last 10 days of the school year, but no matter what, we will finish it out strong!

Reminder - MCAS for Grades 3 & 4

3rd and 4th graders will be taking the English/Language Arts MCAS on Monday, June 7th and the Math MCAS on Tuesday, June 8th.  Testing will begin shortly after the start of the school day.  If you know your child will be late or dismissed early on one of these days for an appointment, please let their teacher and Ms. Back know ASAP so that we can make a plan.

I said it last week, and I’ll say it again: we absolutely do not want this to be a source of stress or worry for any child.  The learning they have been doing all year long is the preparation - now it’s all about a good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and a positive attitude!

Grade 4 Moving On

On Monday, June 14th, our 4th graders will have the chance to commemorate and celebrate their time at Greenwood, as they prepare to move on to the Galvin.  Here is a glimpse at the plans for the day!

  • At 9:30am, the 4th grade will process around the outside of the building and across the back blacktop area.  All other classes will gather outside to cheer for them as they walk by, and then go back inside to continue their day.

  • The certificate ceremony for invited guests will be held out back beginning at 10:00am and end by 10:30am.

  • 4th graders will then have time to watch their video and sign yearbooks.  They will have a pizza lunch in the garden at 12:00pm.

  • From 12:30-2:00pm, 4th graders will participate in a grade-level Field Day run by parents.  They will wrap up with slushes before dismissal.
