From the Principal: 4/11/22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  It was great to see so many smiling faces at the Gator Gallop on Saturday morning.  While some may have wished for a little more sunshine, I for one don’t mind having some cloud cover when out for a run.  And at least we weren’t running in the sudden hailstorm that afternoon!  This was also a fun event to have after our 3rd and 4th graders worked so hard on the English Language Arts MCAS this week - we all needed to work out some energy!

April Break

It’s coming right up!  Schools will be closed Monday, April 18th through Friday, April 22nd for the April break.  We hope everyone has a restful and fun week with whatever your plans are, and we’ll see you all back at Greenwood on Monday, April 25th!

No School - Tuesday, April 26th

There is a professional development day for all WPS staff on Tuesday, April 26th.  This means there will be no school for students.  We know it’s strange timing coming back from break, however, the PD day was placed here to align with Wakefield’s election day due to the use of Galvin Middle School for townwide voting.

Upcoming Creative Arts Program

On Monday, April 11th there will be an in-person program, Young Audiences’ Improv for Inclusion a performance by ImprovBoston here at Greenwood sponsored by the Greenwood PTO Cultural Arts Committee.  This innovative, interactive and highly-acclaimed anti-bullying workshop will build off improvisation’s foundation in support and collaboration. Boston’s best improvisers engage students with equal parts laughter, role-play, problem solving and serious exploration of the many forms of bullying. Students will watch and shape improvised scenes tailored directly to the types of negative social behaviors they may be seeing at school, off-campus and online. This program shows participants that no script in life is pre-written–they have the power to create a positive, supportive, collaborative community.  Grades K-2 will see the performance at 9:00am, while Grades 3-4 will attend at 10:45am.
